The new CLA is built on the MFA platform, created specifically for compact models. Thanks to the use of the new chassis, the sedan has grown in size, and its interior has become more spacious. Thus, the second CLA has become 48 mm longer and 53 mm wider. The trunk volume is 460 liters (+10 l). The drag coefficient is 0.23.

The model received LED daytime running lights in the shape of a boomerang. Now the CLA has a more sloping roofline, as well as sporty bumpers. The company itself has already stated that the new product has become "the most emotional car in its class."

The driver has access to the MBUX multimedia complex, which was first shown on the fourth-generation A-Class family. Artificial intelligence can self-learn and over time will be able to understand even complex commands. The digital instrument panel with a diagonal of seven inches is combined with a media center display of the same size.

Also, the new CLA is equipped with the Interior Assistant function. With the help of special sensors, the electronics can recognize the driver's hand movements and turn on additional lighting. It is assumed that the system will work only when the car is not moving - so as not to distract the driver.

At the exhibition, the CLA 250 version was presented. This modification is equipped with a two-liter gasoline engine producing 225 hp and 350 Nm of torque. This engine is combined with a seven-speed "robot" with two clutches. The sedan received a multi-link rear suspension and a stabilizer bar.

For the new CLA, a semi-autonomous control system is available, borrowed from the S-Class. The sedan is equipped with an emergency braking system, lane keeping function, adaptive cruise control, and other safety systems.
