The new version is equipped with an engine under the index OM 656, which is already familiar from models such as the S-Class, CLS, and GLE.
The six-cylinder engine with a displacement of 2.9 liters develops 286 horsepower and 600 N·m of torque. Peak torque occurs in the range from 1200 to 3200 rpm. The unit is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and permanent all-wheel drive. Acceleration to one hundred kilometers per hour for the SUV takes 7.4 seconds, and the maximum speed is limited to 200 kilometers per hour.
The price of the diesel G-Class has not yet been officially announced, but it is obvious that it will be lower than that of the petrol modification.
