The sports car can be distinguished from its predecessor by the reshaped radiator grille, a modernized bumper with different air intakes, as well as improved aerodynamic elements. The interior has not undergone radical changes, although a new Alcantara trim has become available for it.

As for the technical part, the Audi R8 became available with upgraded 5.2-liter units, for which engineers reprogrammed the electronic control unit. The engine of the base supercar develops 570 hp and 550 Nm of torque, which is 30 hp and 10 Nm more than the previous engine's output. Such a car can accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, and its top speed is 324 km/h.

The top version of the Audi R8 has been renamed from V10 Plus to V10 Performance Quattro. Its power unit, in particular, uses a new titanium valve train mechanism, which increased the engine's output to 620 hp and 580 Nm (10 hp and 20 Nm more powerful than its predecessor). The sports car reaches the first "hundred" in 3.1 seconds, and its top speed is 329 km/h.

The restyled Audi R8 received a modernized suspension and an improved stabilization system. Three new modes of control electronics have appeared for driving on dry ("dry"), wet ("wet") and slippery ("snow") surfaces.
European sales of the updated Audi R8 will start in the first quarter of 2019. Prices for the sports car have not yet been announced.
