The model with index W247 has become larger than its predecessor, and also received a number of semi-automatic control functions that first appeared on the flagship S-Class sedan.

The overall length of the new product is 4359 mm, width - 1786 mm, and height - 1557 millimeters. The wheelbase is 2989 mm, and the drag coefficient has decreased to 0.24. The rear row of seats can be moved forward by 14 cm, increasing the trunk volume from 455 to 705 liters. With the rear seats fully folded, the volume is 1450 liters.

The compact van received the MBUX infotainment system, which was first shown on the fourth-generation A-Class family. The seven-inch digital instrument cluster is combined with a display of the infotainment system of the same size (a 10.25-inch screen is available as an option). A head-up display will be offered for an additional fee.

The engine lineup includes 1.33-liter four-cylinder gasoline units producing 136 and 164 horsepower. The diesel lineup is represented by engines with a displacement of 1.5 and 2.0 liters, producing 115 and 190 hp, respectively. Transmissions are seven- and eight-speed dual-clutch automatics. Other engines will appear later, as well as all-wheel-drive modifications.

The new Mercedes-Benz B-Class received a number of semi-automatic control functions that debuted on the flagship S-Class sedan. The improved camera and radar system can track road situations at a distance of up to 500 meters. For example, the electronics will be able to independently adjust the speed when approaching complex interchanges, intersections, or traffic jams.

European sales of the new-generation Mercedes-Benz B-Class will begin before the end of 2018. Prices for the compact van will be announced later.
