The model received a nine-speed gearbox, which at high speed and with a certain position of the accelerator pedal can skip several gears when downshifting.
The hatchback is equipped with a 1.6-liter i-DTEC diesel engine, featuring an updated variable-geometry turbocharger. The power unit develops 120 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque.
Paired with the nine-speed automatic transmission, the engine provides the Civic with acceleration to 100 kilometers per hour in 11 seconds, and the average fuel consumption is 4.1 liters per 100 kilometers.
In addition to the diesel, the Honda Civic's powertrain lineup includes turbocharged VTEC Turbo petrol engines with displacements of 1.0 and 1.5 liters. The performance of these engines is 126 (with torque of 200 Nm and 180 Nm) and 182 horsepower (with torque of 240 Nm for versions with a manual gearbox and 220 Nm for the CVT), respectively. Cars with the liter engine reach the first hundred in 10.8 seconds with a manual transmission or in 10.6 with a CVT, while the version with the 1.5-liter unit does it in 8.2 seconds.
