The restyled Macan can be distinguished from its predecessor by new LED headlights and taillights with a "three-dimensional" LED strip stretching across the entire tailgate. The same elements are now used on the Cayenne and Panamera. All LED lighting is now standard equipment.

The most noticeable change in the cabin is the new multimedia system with an 11-inch screen (previously it was seven inches), voice control, and access to a cloud service for collecting traffic data from other vehicles. The ventilation system deflectors have also changed, a steering wheel in the style of the 911 with an integrated drive mode selector has appeared, and an air ionization system for climate control has been added.

In addition, the Macan's suspension has been refined (what exactly has changed is not yet specified), other tires providing higher lateral dynamics have been added, and a range of new 20- and 21-inch wheels has been introduced.

The company is not yet talking about the engine lineup. It was previously assumed that the crossover's engines would become more powerful: the base engine's output would increase from 252 to 300 horsepower, the S modification from 340 to 360 horsepower, and the Turbo would be boosted by 40 horsepower to 440 horsepower.
Porsche clarified that the car shown in Shanghai will only be available in China. The company plans to announce updated versions of the Macan for other markets later.
