The Audi Q8 is 4.99 m long, 2 m wide, and 1.71 m high. The wheelbase is almost 3 m. Thus, the crossover turned out to be wider, shorter, and lower than the platform sibling Q7, which is also built on the MLB chassis of the Volkswagen Group. The same architecture underpins the Lamborghini Urus, Bentley Bentayga, and the new-generation Volkswagen Touareg.
The luggage compartment volume with the rear row folded is 1755 L. Three separate seats can optionally be equipped with a longitudinal adjustment function. Data on the engine lineup is currently kept under wraps. However, it is known that all powertrains will operate on a "mild hybrid" scheme — with a 48-volt on-board network and a belt-driven starter-generator.
The new model features an all-wheel-drive system that normally distributes torque in a 40:60 ratio favoring the rear axle, as well as a fully steerable chassis. At low speeds, the rear wheels turn at a slight angle in the opposite direction to the front wheels, improving maneuverability. At high speeds, they turn in the same direction to enhance stability.
The Audi Q8's ground clearance is 254 mm. For an additional fee, an adaptive air suspension will be available, which can increase or decrease the clearance within a range of 90 mm depending on road conditions.
Inside the Q8, there is a 10.1-inch touchscreen customizable display for controlling the multimedia system. Below, on the center tunnel, there is another 8.6-inch screen for adjusting climate settings and entering text. The system supports voice command recognition.
Standard equipment includes an infotainment system with navigation, a Wi-Fi hotspot with LTE support, and a remote engine start system that works via a smartphone app. Adaptive cruise control and a surround-view camera system are available for an additional fee. In 2019, a semi-automatic garage parking function controlled via a smartphone app will become available for the crossover.
