The project started in October 2017, when a team of students, together with their mentors, began developing the design of an open crossover. The final version of the exterior was approved already in January of this year.

The Skoda Sunroq replicates the dimensions of the production model but has lost its rigid roof while retaining the rear doors. The concept turned out to be lower than the standard SUV — the engineers installed sports shock absorbers from the Octavia RS on it.

In addition, the designers reworked the shape of the front pillars and door handles. The show car also features a special lighting system that projects company logos onto the asphalt in the dark.

Under the hood of the convertible sits a 1.5-liter turbo engine, the exact output of which is not disclosed. With such a unit, the car accelerates to 100 km/h in 8.4 seconds, and its top speed reaches 204 km/h.

The Sunroq is already the fifth student work of the Czech brand's school. For example, in 2017, students presented a special modification of the Citigo city car, converted into an electric beach buggy.
