The design of this X1 was prematurely revealed in patent images registered in China. The "stretched" BMW X1, which will get the LWB suffix in its name, will be built on the same UKL1 platform as the standard 4.43-meter modification of the SUV, which has been presented in Ukraine since autumn 2015. At the same time, it will be about 100 mm longer and will get larger rear doors and windows. No significant stylistic differences are provided.

According to preliminary information, the new product will be presented in China in the middle of next year. Initially, it will be sold with a 2.0-liter twin-turbo four-cylinder gasoline engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission. Later, additional versions with 3-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines, as well as a hybrid setup, will appear. The base car will be front-wheel drive, but for an additional cost, you can order an all-wheel-drive version with the xDrive system. Long-wheelbase versions of cars are common mainly in China. Whether the BMW X1 LWB will appear on the European and North American markets is still unknown.
