According to the latest information, the new generation L200 is intended by the developers to be closer in design to the company's passenger cars. "This path has already been tested by Mitsubishi's competitors from Nissan," says Antonio Principe, marketing director of Mitsubishi in Australia.
It is not surprising that companies are increasing the comfort level of off-road models and improving handling. These are common customer requirements that they rely on when choosing a particular car for purchase. At the same time, the most difficult thing for engineers is to maintain practicality, versatility, and load capacity along with good cross-country capability.
What can future owners of the new L200 get? For enthusiasts of "green" cars, the new Mitsubishi L200 will provide the option of a hybrid powertrain. A sample of such a car was already shown to the public at last year's Geneva Motor Show. The L200 concept — GR-HEV appeared before show visitors in all its glory and was equipped with a hybrid system built on diesel-electric technology. The all-wheel drive of the prototype combines elements of the already familiar Super Select 4WD and S-AWC.
According to our information, the premiere of the new L200 will take place next year. Then we will find out whether it will change as radically as the Nissan Navara 2015.
