With the introduction of new rules, the pension levy when registering a passenger car is charged exclusively at the time of its initial registration in Ukraine. For the secondary market, this is rather a plus. However, the downside is that the payment will still have to be made upon the first registration of the car — whether it is a new car from a dealership or a vehicle imported from abroad.
According to the proposal of the President of Ukraine, the amount of this levy has become dependent on the car's value. Previously, drivers paid a fixed 3% regardless of the car's price, but starting from December, the amount will be calculated differently — from 3% to 5% depending on the vehicle's price at its initial registration.
