The Ukrainian authorities have decided to change their approach to introducing a recycling fee on cars imported into the country. Instead of a government resolution, as previously assumed, this norm will be enshrined at the legislative level.

This was reported to UNIAN by the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine, Eduard Stavitsky, who noted: "We still decided to carry this out through a law."

It is worth recalling that the recycling fee came into effect in Ukraine on September 14. Currently, it applies only to products of the Russian automotive industry and was introduced as a retaliatory measure to similar actions by the Russian Federation. Since then, Kyiv has repeatedly proposed mutual concessions to Moscow on goods from both countries, but an agreement has not yet been reached.

Later, the Cabinet of Ministers instructed the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources to prepare amendments to the resolution that established the fee. The updated document is planned to include provisions that would make the fee mandatory for all car importers, while exempting local producers from it.
