According to information posted on the portal "Legal Practice", which is a publication for Ukrainian lawyers, today the District Administrative Court of Kyiv ruled in favor of lawyer Tetyana Churykova, who also represents the interests of the Ukrainian Motorists Council, and her colleague from the same Council, Oleksiy Andronikov. Their lawsuit was filed against the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and the State Department of the State Automobile Inspection, and concerned the ban on the use of "Vizir" radars in the country.
The court found unlawful the actions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Department of the State Automobile Inspection, which used these radar devices with video recording function to detect and record traffic violations.
In addition, as noted in the publication, the court ruling imposes a ban on the use of "Vizir" both by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Department of the State Automobile Inspection themselves, and by their officials. The restriction will be in effect until an appropriate regulatory document appears that officially authorizes the police to use this speed measuring device to monitor compliance with traffic rules.
Earlier, on February 9, the press service of the State Automobile Inspection Department reported that the department does not plan to abandon "Vizirs", but is considering the possibility of introducing a stationary video surveillance system.
