Traditionally, the best were chosen in three categories. The car of the year was the Hyundai Elantra sedan – it beat the Genesis G80 and Nissan Sentra.
In the crossover and SUV category, the Ford Mustang Mach-E electric vehicle won. Its closest rivals were the Genesis GV80 and Land Rover Defender. Experts noted that this is a revolutionary model for Ford and a worthy competitor to the Tesla Model Y.
The best pickup of the year is the new Ford F-150, leaving behind the Jeep Gladiator Mojave and Ram 1500 TRX. The jury liked that the new generation of the model became more comfortable and received hybrid versions.
The best cars of the year in North America have been chosen for 27 years now – since 1994. The winners are determined by a jury of 50 automotive journalists from the USA and Canada. Last year, the Chevrolet Corvette sports car, Kia Telluride crossover, and Jeep Gladiator pickup were recognized.
Recall that soon the best car of the year will also be determined in Europe. The nominees for the awards are already known.
