As Automotive News reports, since the eighties of the last century, Mercedes-Benz has been constantly present at this international motor show.

Dealers interviewed by the publication consider this step of the company to be a mistake. They believe that the absence of the Mercedes-Benz stand will negatively affect the brand's image and give an advantage to competitors who will show their new products. Earlier this year, representatives of the German "big three" — Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and BMW — had already skipped the Detroit Auto Show without noticeable consequences. In addition, BMW also decided not to go to the auto show in New York.

This trend affects not only American exhibitions but also European shows. For example, in 2019, at the Geneva International Motor Show, one of the largest in Europe, there were no stands for Ford and Volvo.

Automakers around the world are increasingly refusing to participate in such events, preferring to organize their own presentations or switch to an online format. Thus, for December 11, Mercedes-Benz has scheduled a virtual presentation of the new generation of the GLA model.
