The first example of the Impreza hatchback was produced at Subaru's American plant in Lafayette, Indiana.
Previously, the Impreza came off assembly lines exclusively in Japan, but due to growing demand in the United States, it was decided to start production of this model at a plant in Indiana.
Until now, the American enterprise specialized only in the production of Legacy and Outback. To cope with growing customer demand, by the end of the current year, the plant's capacity is planned to be increased from 218 to 394 thousand cars.
