During April, 74.3 thousand transactions for the purchase and sale of used cars were recorded on the secondary market. Compared to March, the number of deals decreased by 1.6%, and compared to April 2024, the decline reached 40.7%. The explanation lies in the fact that last year the period of mass "re-registrations" of vehicles ended, which significantly inflated the figures.

Where deals were most often concluded:

  • the capital

  • Kyiv region

  • Dnipropetrovsk region (slightly ahead of Lviv region)

Lowest activity:
Donetsk and Kherson regions — due to hostilities and proximity to the zone of active combat operations.

Import of used cars: western regions lead

In April 2025, 20.5 thousand passenger cars that already had owners were imported into the country and registered for the first time. This figure is 2% higher than in March and 6% higher than last year's level for the same period.

Who leads in import volume:

  1. Lviv region — traditionally first due to its border location and developed car business.

  2. Kyiv — in second place.

  3. Kyiv region — consistently holds third place.

At the end of the list are the same regions: Donetsk and Kherson regions.

New cars: small but growth

In April, 5.7 thousand new passenger cars were registered, which is 1.2% more than in April last year and 14.6% more than in March 2025.

Who buys the most new cars:

  • Kyiv — an absolute leader due to the large population, enterprises, government fleets, and the work of leasing companies.

  • Kyiv region — in second position.

  • Dnipropetrovsk region — closes the top three.

Conclusions

Despite the difficult situation in the country, the car market remains quite stable, and some segments even show growth. The domestic market has cooled somewhat after last year's hype, imports are gradually gaining momentum, and the new car market shows cautious positivity. One thing is certain: Kyiv, Kyiv region, Lviv, and Dnipro are the four main centers of automotive activity in Ukraine.
