Famous Volkswagen Group designer Walter de Silva published photos on his Instagram. It was he who developed the Porsche 550One by order of the then president of VW Group, Ferdinand Piëch.

As the name implies, the mid-engine roadster is a modern version of the legendary Porsche 550 Spyder. The design immediately shows the features of the famous model of the 50s. It has a similar silhouette, familiar round headlights and characteristic gills on the rear fenders. The interior is also made in retro style – with imitation of bare metal on the dashboard and door cards.

It is known that engineers from Porsche, Volkswagen and Audi worked together on the 550One. The roadster prototype was equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo four from the Audi TT and a 6-speed manual gearbox.

However, the project was soon scrapped – the management of the Volkswagen concern feared that the new model would take buyers away from the more expensive Porsche Boxster.
