Over the past 10 years, sales of the Renault Megane family have more than halved: from 465,732 units in 2010 to 209,845 units in 2019. For example, in the British market last year, only 2,699 Meganes were sold compared to 60,000 Golfs. Renault's chief designer, Laurens van den Acker, told AutoExpress that the company plans to focus only on promising projects, and the Megane family is clearly not one of them.

"As soon as we increase the number of electric cars in our lineup, we will have to drop a number of other models because we cannot afford to finance all of this at the same time. The Megane belongs to a market segment that is becoming less and less popular, so financial resources need to be invested in the future," van den Acker noted.

From this, we can conclude that the new generation of the Renault Megane will either fully switch to electric power or become history.
