As The Financial Times reports, this is the most significant quarterly loss in the last decade.
Nissan's global sales fell by 8.1 percent, amounting to 3.7 million vehicles. At the same time, in Russia, demand for the brand's cars decreased by 16.3 percent — to 395 thousand units, in the USA — by 9.1 percent, to 980 thousand, and in other markets — by 11.5 percent, to 547 thousand. China remains the main market for the company, providing about a third of all sales, but even there, revenue and income indicators have gone down.
Due to such serious losses, the concern revised its annual operating profit forecast, reducing it by 43 percent — to 65 billion yen (approximately 591 million dollars). One of the factors was the spread of coronavirus in China, where not only car factories but also enterprises producing components have stopped.
