Last month, almost all key European Union car markets showed positive dynamics, with particularly impressive results demonstrated by Spain (+12.4%) and France (+10.3%). A positive trend was also recorded in Germany (+9.4%) and Italy (+6.8%). At the same time, the British car market continues to decline for the eighth consecutive month: in November, sales here fell by 11.2%.
Germany remains the largest European trading platform — 302,636 new passenger cars were sold here in a month.
France is in second place in terms of sales volume, with 180,005 cars purchased in November.
The top three is closed by the UK with 163,541 cars sold.
Among automakers, VW Group holds the first line as usual, having sold 299,009 of its cars in the EU markets, which is 5.5% more than in November last year.
The second position is occupied by PSA Group with a sales volume of 196,650 cars. This result exceeds the November 2016 figure by 83.3% — the acquisition of Opel and Vauxhall brands from GM had an effect.
The third result in terms of the number of cars sold is Renault Group — 137,009 units (plus 10.1%).
Over eleven months of 2017, more than 14 million new passenger cars were registered in the EU countries, which is 4.1% more than in the same period a year earlier. Almost all major markets in the region ensured an increase in overall indicators: Italy added +8.7%, Spain — +7.8%, France — +5.3%, Germany — +3%.
