Yan Woon-chul, Vice President of Hyundai Motor, and Vincent Rousset-Rouviere, Head of Original Equipment Tires at Michelin, have signed a partnership agreement. Under this contract, the Korean automaker and the French company will join forces to develop new all-season tires intended for future electric vehicles and cars of the luxury sub-brand Genesis.
The jointly developed tires will be installed on electric models, the serial production of which is expected to start after 2020. Such tires will improve the energy efficiency of upcoming cars and increase their driving range.
Another project will be premium tires for the car that will replace the current generation of the Genesis G80 sedan. These tires are designed to make handling more precise and improve comfort levels, in particular by reducing vibrations at high speeds.
In the long term, the companies intend to deepen their cooperation by organizing experience exchange and launching training programs for their employees.
