In July, Germany again took first place in terms of the number of cars sold — 283,080 vehicles were sold on the local market, which is 1.5% more than a year earlier. Thus, the German car market, which showed a decline in demand in June, has returned to growth again. The second position went to the UK, where dealers sold 161,997 cars, 9.3% less than the previous year's result. The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) attributes this to the fact that negative dynamics have been observed for the fourth consecutive month, explaining it by growing uncertainty around the government's plans regarding the country's exit from the European Union.
Third place went to France, where sales amounted to 147,519 vehicles, which is 10.9% higher than last year's figure. Right behind it is Italy with 145,363 cars sold and an increase of 5.9%. The Italian Association of Automobile Manufacturers (ANFIA) notes that such a level of sales has not been seen since 2010.
