The Japanese auto giant has adjusted its plans for 2011: instead of the previously announced 8.04 million cars, the company now expects to assemble 7.8 million vehicles. This means that for the third consecutive year, the world's leading automaker will fail to surpass the 8 million mark. The record figure was set in 2007, when 8.5 million cars rolled off assembly lines, but the global economic crisis that began in 2008 dealt a serious blow to production. Thus, in 2009, output fell to 6.37 million cars. This year, production is expected to recover to 7.5 million vehicles.
Toyota will produce fewer cars
Japanese automaker Toyota Motors has reduced its forecast for car production in 2011 by 200 thousand units.
