The management of the Volga Automobile Plant announced that by 2013 all current models of the enterprise would be discontinued. Over several years, it was planned to stop production of the "classic" and "Samara-2" models. The model lineup was to include only the Lada Kalina and several related versions. The Lada Kalina was produced in three body types: hatchback, station wagon, and sedan. The car was offered with 1.4 and 1.6 liter gasoline engines, which worked in conjunction with a 5-speed manual transmission.
