BMW 4 Series is a sporty two-door coupe that appeared in the Bavarian brand's lineup in 2013. The name "fourth series" indicates its belonging to the D-class by European standards and emphasizes the sporty character of the model.
Work on this coupe began in 2010. The manufacturer aimed to create a car with more pronounced sporty dynamics than the existing 3 Series coupe. The design was developed in the BMW Individual division. The concept, presented in December 2012, borrowed some elements from the 3 Series (F30), but most solutions — the shape of the front and rear bumpers, the body profile — are original. In terms of dimensions, the new model surpasses the 3 Series coupe but has a lower body height.
The world premiere of the BMW 4 Series took place at the Detroit Auto Show. The car is built on the "F" platform and is equipped with 2.0 and 3.0 liter gasoline engines, as well as a 2.0 liter diesel engine. Transmissions include a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic. Drive is rear-wheel.
