BMW 3 Series: prices and specifications

16 generations Country of origin: Germany

BMW 3 series is a compact D-class premium passenger car produced by the German concern BMW AG since 1975. The digital indices in the name are a hallmark of the brand, and until 2004 (when the BMW 1 appeared), the "3" was the youngest in the company's model range.

Production of the first generation (E21 body) began on May 2, 1975. The car replaced the BMW 2002. There was a small-series convertible version developed by the Baur body shop. In 1982, the next generation (E30 body) arrived. It was produced in four body styles. For the first time, an all-wheel drive version, the 325ix, was introduced. The top of the model range was the most powerful version – the M3, which was a modified version of the coupe body. Over the years of production of the E30 body car, 2,339,520 units of this model were produced. In 1990, the third generation with the index E36 was launched. The car became longer, taller, and wider than its predecessor, and the 130 mm increase in wheelbase provided more space in the rear seat. There were many body variations: coupe, convertible, hatchback, sedan, and station wagon. The top version, the M3, received a 3.2-liter engine (321 hp) paired with a sequential SMG transmission.

The E46 body was introduced in 1998. The station wagon and coupe were shown in 1999 along with BMW's new Steptronic transmission (adaptive automatic transmission with manual shift capability). A year later, the convertible and M3 appeared, and in 2001, 3-door hatchbacks went on sale. The fifth generation, shown in 2005, received the index E90. The station wagon (E91), coupe (E92), and convertible (E93) went into production at the end of 2006. The sixth generation was introduced in October 2011 under the new index F30. The model increased in size: the body became 93 mm longer, 6 mm wider, and 8 mm taller than its predecessor E90. The wheelbase increased by 50 mm. The trunk volume increased by 50 liters. Among the additional options, it is worth noting the auto parking system, surround view system, rear view camera, and multimedia system with Internet access.

The car has been officially sold in Ukraine since spring 2012. Drive – rear and all-wheel.
