Audi A1: prices and specifications

2 generations Country of origin: Germany

Audi A1 is the most compact model in the German manufacturer's lineup. It took the place that belonged to the Audi 50 model between 1976 and 1978. In the name, "A" indicates the Audi brand, and the number "1" denotes its belonging to the class of compact cars (European B-segment).

The decision to produce a compact model was made due to growing global demand for such cars. Before the serial version appeared, the company's engineers created several prototypes. The first of them, a three-door hatchback metroproject quattro, was shown in 2007 at the Tokyo Motor Show. It was equipped with proprietary all-wheel drive and a hybrid transmission. In 2008 in Paris, Audi presented the Sportback concept — a five-door version of the A1. In 2010 at the Geneva Motor Show, the A1 e-tron prototype, which ran on electricity, was shown.

The premiere of the Audi A1 took place in 2010 at the Geneva Motor Show: the three-door version was presented then. The five-door Audi A1 hatchback debuted in 2011 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The car is built on the Volkswagen PQ25 platform, which is also used for the fifth-generation Volkswagen Polo and the fourth-generation Seat Ibiza. Production of the model is established at the Volkswagen Group plant in Forest, Belgium.

In Ukraine, the three-door version of the Audi A1 began to be supplied in 2011, and a year later the five-door Sportback hatchback appeared.

The model is equipped only with petrol engines with a displacement of 1.2 and 1.4 liters with TFSI turbocharging. The engines work in conjunction with three types of transmissions: five- or six-speed manual, as well as a seven-speed "robot" with two clutches DSG. Drive — front.
