We turned to the specialists of the Motor-Gas service station for advice, who have been engaged in LPG installation on cars in Kyiv for more than 13 years. They were pioneers in Ukraine, installing gas equipment on the rotary engine of the Mazda RX-8, and their portfolio includes projects such as the Bentley GT Continental, Lincoln Continental Black Label 3.0, and even a jet ski with a 1.5-liter engine and 260 hp.
Roman Matveev, owner of the Motor-Gas service station:
"The uninterrupted operation of the gas installation and the power unit on which it is mounted is determined by a number of key points.
1. Competent selection of gas equipment for a specific engine:
- The electronics of the gas system must be fast enough to not yield to the gasoline control unit.
- Gas injectors, in terms of their performance, response speed, and linearity of characteristics, must match the engine and the standard injection system.
- It is important to know exactly what real power the gas reducer is designed for.
- The cylinder and multivalve must meet high safety standards and have the European certificate R67-01.
- Do not forget about consumables: hoses, tubes, clamps, fittings, and even electrical tape. The quality of these elements is often not given importance, which is fundamentally wrong and even dangerous. There is no need to save on gas equipment: if finances do not allow installing the system at once, it is better to save up the necessary amount or use LPG installation on credit or installment.
2. High-quality LPG installation
In this process, there are a huge number of details and subtleties. Our craftsmen have been constantly undergoing training from manufacturers in Poland, Italy, and the Netherlands for 13 years, improving their skills. As I already noted, every little thing matters here: from developing brackets for mounting components and connecting wiring to the method of drilling holes in the body or manifold and their subsequent processing. Also critically important are the correct connection of the reducer to the cooling system and the organization of ventilation of the cylinder compartment. In our work, we adhere to the strict requirements of the German TUV for LPG installation, the existence of which many installers do not even suspect.
3. Precise LPG tuning
Properly calibrated gas equipment supplies a stoichiometric gas-air mixture to the engine across the entire load range. For this, we have all the necessary equipment, including a dynamometer stand that allows simulating static and dynamic loads without leaving the station.
One could talk for a long time about common misconceptions regarding valves, power loss, and other stereotypes. We have many real examples where cars running on gas covered 400-500 thousand kilometers, changed more than one owner, and still come to us for maintenance. Do not chase the most expensive and sophisticated equipment. If unqualified craftsmen install it, it still will not work properly. Trust the work to professionals and save on fuel."
