Volkswagen Eos became the first coupe-cabriolet in the brand's history, debuting in 2005. The model was named after the ancient Greek goddess of the dawn. The Eos replaced the Golf Cabriolet, which left the model lineup. The car was built on a shortened platform from the sixth-generation Volkswagen Passat. In 2010, the model underwent a major facelift.
