The first images of the new coupe have already leaked online, and it was likely this that prompted Mercedes-Benz to reveal some details about the model ahead of schedule, without waiting for the opening of the Geneva Motor Show. The new model, which will replace the CL-Class, has become slightly more compact than its predecessor, but offers a fundamentally different level of comfort, safety, and technical equipment.

The S-Class Coupe has had its wheelbase shortened by 10 mm to 2945 mm, overall length reduced by 68 mm (5027 mm), and height by 8 mm (1411 mm). At the same time, the car has become 28 mm wider than its predecessor, reaching 1899 mm.

Already in standard trim, the S-Class Coupe will feature full LED lighting. For an additional cost, 47 Swarovski crystals can be installed in the front headlights: 17 of them will adorn the daytime running light strip, and another 30 will decorate the turn signal sections.

Under the hood of the new model for the American market will be a 4.7-liter gasoline V-8 producing 455 hp and 700 Nm of torque. It will be paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and the 4Matic all-wheel-drive system.

The main technical feature of the model will be an active hydropneumatic suspension that can tilt the body in corners, similar to how motorcyclists do. The tilt angle is calculated by electronics based on data from a stereo camera and accelerometer. The system operates at speeds from 30 to 180 km/h, with a maximum tilt angle of 2.5 degrees.

There is also an active exhaust system: the engine sound will change depending on the selected driving mode. Engineers also seriously worked on the safety package, including adaptive cruise control, collision prevention system, lane keeping assist, and automatic braking when detecting obstacles, including pedestrians, in the standard equipment.

The level of comfort in the cabin can be judged from the photos, but among the special options worth highlighting are air ionization, heated armrests, and seats with massage and hot stone simulation.
