Question from Lyubov Tsygankova: Some drivers who need to get to Velyka Kytayivska from Hrinchenko Street, without reaching the intersection, cross it directly and then make a right turn (as shown in the photo with the Tavria pickup).
Are such maneuvers legal? After all, the signs installed at the intersection of Hrinchenko and Saperno-Slobidska allow driving only to the left — towards the Pivdennyi (Southern) Bridge.
Personally, I act differently: first I drive to Nauky Avenue, make a U-turn under the overpass, then return to the intersection along Saperno-Slobidska and only then turn onto Velyka Kytayivska.
Answer from the experts of the Karat driving school:
Sign 5.16 (lane direction), which is installed there, clearly requires driving to the left. Turning onto Velyka Kytayivska is not allowed, even if it creates inconvenience. To get to this street, you will have to find a way around the intersection.
Conclusion: driving straight through the intersection onto Velyka Kytayivska is not permitted.
Let us remind you that earlier we already talked about this intersection in an article about the stop line before the traffic light and its meaning.
