Question from Sergey Yarchuk:
Mykola Grinchenko Street. Railway crossing near the Roshen factory (formerly named after Karl Marx) and the Olkom plant. The crossing is equipped with light and sound signaling. Is it necessary to stop before the crossing if the traffic light gives no signals?
Answer from Karat driving school experts:
In the described situation, sign 2.2 "No stopping without stopping" and a type 6 traffic light are placed before the crossing. In this case, when approaching the crossing, you must follow the instruction of sign 2.2, since a type 6 traffic light with two alternately flashing red signals is activated only when movement is prohibited. Therefore, the driver cannot know in advance whether the signaling is currently working.
However, if a type 6 traffic light with an additional white-lunar signal were used, priority signs would lose their force, and drivers would have to rely solely on the traffic light signals (the white-lunar signal of a type 6 traffic light indicates that the signaling is operational and passage through the crossing is allowed).
Conclusion:
Before the "STOP" sign at this crossing, you will still have to stop, since the driver has no way to verify the traffic light's functionality until the prohibiting signal lights up.
