Question from Alex:
Obolon district, intersection of Luhova and Dehtiarenko streets. Car #1 is driving along Dehtiarenko and turns right onto Luhova, using the additional section of the traffic light.

At this moment, car #2, which is following Luhova on the green signal (arrow), makes a U-turn in the opposite direction — like the red VAZ-2105 in the photo.

Is the driver of the VAZ-2105 obliged to yield to the car coming from Dehtiarenko? Accidents regularly happen at this intersection.
Comment from experts of the Karat driving school:
In the top photo, you can see that car #1 is driving along Dehtiarenko on the green arrow (sign on the traffic light), while the main signal is red with vertical lamp arrangement. According to clause 16.9, car #1 must yield to vehicles and pedestrians moving from other directions. This also applies to car #2, which is already completing its passage through the intersection, since it started moving on a permissive signal.
Conclusion:
No, there is no need to yield, as the "five" must complete its maneuver.
