As reported by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko, market participants currently have 22.5 thousand tons of gasoline and 41.4 thousand tons of diesel fuel in stock.
"We have approved several government decisions that allow bringing existing reserves to the market – 70 thousand tons of gasoline and about 40 thousand tons of diesel – to reduce the shortage", the official stated at a meeting of the presidium of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities under the President.
According to Svyrydenko, the fuel shortage was caused by the destruction of the Kremenchuk refinery and a number of oil depots by Russian troops. At the same time, market analysts claim that the key factor of the shortage was the administrative regulation of fuel prices by the authorities.
