The auto.24tv.ua publication learned about the unusual homemade project. As colleagues note, the electric Zaporozhets has already undergone several technical updates. It now has an electric motor borrowed from a Nissan Leaf, a homemade controller based on a unit from a Chevrolet Volt hybrid, and a battery with a modest capacity of 7 kWh. After road tests are completed, the car will be equipped with a larger battery.

Currently, the electric ZAZ can accelerate to 100 km/h in 6.43 seconds, and the 60 km/h mark is reached in a dizzying 2.14 seconds. Later, the owner intends to improve these figures.

As can be seen in the frames, the rear wheels of the car are larger than the front, plus there are widened arches. However, this was not some design or tuning whim: the creator took this step to achieve high torque. To do this, he had to rework the suspension, which, in fact, resulted in external changes.

By the way, the transmission of the homemade electric car is factory-made. Only 3rd and 4th gears were left in the standard manual, and the reverse gear was also removed – the electric car moves in reverse by changing the speed of the electric motor.

Recall that earlier AvtoPortal wrote that in Ukraine a 30-year-old Zaporozhets with a mileage of only 74 km was found.
