As reported by Defense Express, the SUV is based on the export Kozak-5. However, unlike the donor, which is designed for police use, the newcomer is intended for the army and has better off-road qualities.

The armored vehicle is built on the frame chassis of a heavy Ford F-550 pickup truck. At the same time, reinforced axles, springs, shock absorbers, driveshafts, stabilizers, and hubs are installed, which made it possible to increase the chassis payload capacity to 12 tons. This allows, for example, a compact mortar, an anti-tank system, an electronic warfare station, or a signals intelligence station to be installed on the Kozak-7.

The armored vehicle is powered by a 6.7-liter turbo diesel V8. It is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
