Compared to the same period last year, the number of registered electric passenger cars decreased by 16%, and cargo and commercial vehicles — by almost 40%.

The reason for this decline is that the majority of registrations are used electric vehicles imported from other countries. Their registration was temporarily suspended in the second half of last month due to quarantine restrictions.

Among electric passenger cars, the share of imported used cars in March registrations reached 86% (333 units), and in the commercial vehicle segment — all 100% (23 units).

At the same time, despite all the difficulties caused by the quarantine, the number of registered new electric vehicles in March increased by 36% compared to 2019 and amounted to 53 units.

As before, the Nissan Leaf holds the first place in the electric car market. Over the past month, 129 such cars received Ukrainian registration (all used).

The second position is occupied by the Tesla Model S — 47 units. Of these, only one car was new.

The third most popular was the Tesla Model 3 with 32 cars (all with mileage).

Used Volkswagen e-Golf were purchased and registered by 19 Ukrainians, and the same number of registrations were for the commercial Renault Kangoo ZE — this is the fourth result.

The top five most popular electric cars in March in Ukraine is closed by the Audi E-Tron. Over the month, 17 such crossovers were bought — all new.

Overall, in the first quarter of 2020, 1.7 thousand electric vehicles were cleared and registered in the country — a third more than a year earlier.
