At the same time, the new car market grew by only 5%, and the number of used cars that received registration exceeded April last year's figures by 44%.

The Association explains that the active growth in the number of imported used cars is facilitated by reduced excise rates on imports of used passenger cars, which this year apply to vehicles up to 8 years old.

Volkswagen remains the leader in used car imports. In April, 1004 cars of this German brand were registered with Ukrainian plates. Thus, the share of used cars in the total volume of primary Volkswagen registrations was 62%.

Second place goes to Renault — 888 used cars. This is 31% more than the volume of new Renault sales in Ukraine over the same period.

Used Skoda cars received 592 Ukrainian registration documents, which is 54% more than the number of new cars of this brand sold.

Used Fords were registered in the amount of 485 units — this is two-thirds of the total number of Ford sales in Ukraine in April.

Opel closes the top five. 349 Ukrainians chose older cars of this brand, while only 16 buyers preferred new cars.

Overall, from January to April, the Ukrainian car fleet was replenished with 25.2 thousand used passenger cars, which is 85% more than in the same period last year.
