In March of last year, the primary market was mostly occupied by new cars — they accounted for 65% of all first registrations. However, this year the situation has changed: imported used cars have taken the leading role, with their share reaching 52%.
At the same time, the volume of registrations of imported used cars increased by 87% compared to the same period a year earlier and amounted to 7.4 thousand units.
The growth in the share of second-hand cars on the primary market is explained by the fact that this year the reduced excise duty on the import of used passenger cars expires. In addition, the average asking price of such cars has decreased, since in 2018 the benefit already applies to cars aged 8 years.
Among imported used foreign cars in March, Volkswagen took first place — 1252 Ukrainian license plates were issued for this brand.
Renault holds the second position — 1126 cars.
Skoda closes the top three: 696 older cars of this brand joined the domestic car fleet.
In addition, the top ten on the primary market of used foreign cars for March also included:
Ford — 465 units, Opel — 385 units, BMW — 376 units, Nissan — 337 units, Toyota — 309 units, Audi — 282 units, and Peugeot — 240 units.
