True, the Ukrainian authorities completely and utterly ignored it. Abroad, on this day, almost every official takes the opportunity to make self-promotion. And indeed – it's a great occasion to make a statement about oneself by switching to a bicycle or walking to work.

How are things in Ukraine? Despite the election campaign, only a few politicians announced giving up their cars for one day. And in the country as a whole, there wasn't even the slightest campaign urging to give the Earth a rest. And indeed, why bother. Better to show care for the environment by setting an example with eco-friendly police Priuses, while cruising around the country in a Mercedes with a 6-liter gas guzzler...

P.S. Perhaps the only thing Ukraine (the capital, in particular) indirectly did to improve the environment was opening a bike path from Troieshchyna on the eve of Car-Free Day.
