Back in 2012, preparing for the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU, Ukraine adopted a number of legislative amendments. One of them was a change to the law "On Certain Issues of Importing Vehicles into the Customs Territory of Ukraine and Their Registration".

At the same time, a schedule for introducing restrictions was established. According to it, from January 1, 2014, Ukraine allowed the import of cars of at least Euro 4 standard. And from January 1, 2016, at least Euro 5.

The requirements are the same for both used and new vehicles.

The upcoming innovation will inevitably lead to a reduction in the import of used cars. After all, these standards are mainly met by cars produced no earlier than five years ago.

Such cars are not cheap even in Europe. Accordingly, their commercial attractiveness disappears. According to the head of the All-Ukrainian Association of Auto Importers and Dealers, Oleg Nazarenko, the import of such cars may decrease by 50% or even more.

It is possible that the reduction in the import of used cars into the country will lead to price increases.
