Experts from the very beginning predicted the inefficiency of such a gradation. Since engine displacement cannot be an indicator of a car's luxury or premium status. Now Natalia Yaresko almost word for word repeats everything that auto market experts, automotive publications, and economists talked about day and night: "We are changing the existing transport tax, there were many complaints about it. The idea was good, but it turned out to be not very effective."

The result is obvious - the collections are meager, and the costs of administering the law are significant. Now Yaresko has voiced a new, no less controversial approach to taxing expensive cars. Now the government has decided to assign the title of premium car by a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers.

But such a decision is still a time bomb. After all, a short-sighted official may well compile a list based on the principle - everything that is included in a specific brand. For example, we can take the Mercedes-Benz model range. Yes, of course, we perceive this brand as premium, but we should not forget that the company produces a whole series of commercial vehicles and minibuses that are nothing more than workhorses. From premium they have only the name and label. And there are many such examples. For instance, the same "Audi" has in its lineup not only expensive and powerful cars, but also quite "budget" family runabouts.
In general, the mechanism seems clear, but most likely it will not be the most effective.
