According to Arsen Avakov, "the head of the Kyiv traffic police, police colonel Makarenko Mykola Mykolayovych, suspected as the organizer of a criminal group, has unauthorizedly left the country towards Belarus. He is being sought for giving explanations and making decisions," the minister stated.
Avakov links the escape of the head of the state traffic inspectorate to the fact that the Ministry of Internal Affairs conducted a series of searches and detentions as part of suppressing criminal schemes identified in the capital's department of the State Traffic Inspectorate.
According to the Minister of Internal Affairs, the suppressed police frauds were based on schemes of obtaining illegal funds in the MREO (Interdistrict Registration and Examination Department) when registering cars. And although Makarenko Mykola is still being searched, they managed to detain the head of the department for organizing registration and examination work of the traffic police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Kyiv - police lieutenant colonel Zhebel Mykola Vadymovych.
