According to unofficial data, the approximate number of people who left their homes due to the conflict in eastern Ukraine has exceeded 1 million. The estimate is approximate, as some people did not register as refugees.

The return of refugees is associated with the fact that most of these people, leaving their homes, did not expect the conflict to last so long. Many simply have no means of subsistence. If on the territory of Ukraine they can count on at least some help from the state and volunteer organizations, then in Russia they may be resettled to remote areas of the country with a harsh climate.
