But in reality, how should people fleeing from war behave? To help them, the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine published instructions on how refugees should leave the ATO zone.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine urges people living in the temporarily occupied territory to leave the ATO zone. Currently, the website of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine has published information on the rules of conduct and actions when leaving the dangerous territory. Also important is information on how to behave at bandit checkpoints, especially if you are traveling in a personal vehicle.

It is recommended to find out the road situation and route in advance. For this purpose, a hotline has been created where you can get help. Phones: 095-943-42-28, 068-545-17-96, 063-785-11-36 and of course 101.

Logic should also tell you that it is easier to leave the combat zone in an inconspicuous old car than in a modern foreign car. You will attract less attention.

It is advisable to have a small amount of cash with you, which should be divided into several parts and hidden in different places.

To avoid problems, delete any compromising materials from your phone and block access to social networks.

Do not attempt to take video or photos at terrorist checkpoints, especially openly. Attract less attention to yourself.

It is not bad to have alcohol with you. It can serve as a pass at terrorist checkpoints.

Valuables and expensive equipment should be especially carefully hidden or disguised.

Think about what you will say when asked why you are leaving. A well-thought-out "legend" can save your life. If there are several of you, you must say the same thing. The most optimal option is to refer to the need to attend a wedding, funeral, birthday, etc.

Do not forget that at the checkpoints of the Anti-Terrorist Operation forces, no one knows who you are and for what purpose you arrived, so treat the actions of the military with understanding and do not engage in heated discussions with them. They are obliged to conduct checks to prevent the movement of prohibited items: weapons, explosives, and the like. In addition, you will need to undergo an identification procedure, and you will be issued a corresponding document. It will give you the right to access medical care, payment of pensions and various types of state assistance, the right to education, and the like.

You must have with you:

Passport/birth certificate

Acts on privatization of real estate, land, car.

It will not be superfluous to have copies of all documents, both in paper and electronic form.

When you arrive in the city where you decide to temporarily settle, you need to contact the state centers at the regional administrations and clarify all issues regarding accommodation, medical care, employment, restoration of documents, as well as schools and kindergartens where you can place children.

Subsequently, carry out all necessary actions to register yourself and your family as refugees in the administration of the city where you have settled. In the future, the fate of people leaving the ATO zone will be taken care of by a coordination center. It is being created on the basis of the State Service of Ukraine for Emergency Situations, and the center will include representatives of several central executive authorities, public organizations, and international institutions, according to the report.
