The last copy of the "Zaporozhets" was not sent to a museum collection, as automakers often do, but was handed over to dealers for sale. The main reason for stopping production of the 1103 model is the tightening of environmental standards of the European Union, which Ukraine seeks to join.

Four years ago, the enterprise started assembling the "Slavuta", which meets the requirements of "Euro-2". Production volumes were modest, but even under such conditions, the "ZAZ workers" managed to supply these cars to the Russian market. Practice has shown that the production of environmentally friendly "Zaporozhets" is unprofitable: the installation of a catalyst raised the price of the car, and the main buyers of "Slavutas" live in rural areas and are used to repairing cars themselves, while the injection system required specialized equipment. As a result, the management of ZAZ decided to stop production.
