This is already the second Panasonic production facility opened in the United States — the first one operates in Nevada. The total capacity of both enterprises reaches 73 GWh per year, and the staff numbers about 4 thousand people.
The new enterprise is focused on the production of batteries for Tesla, which is increasing its production capacity in the USA. In addition to technological development, Panasonic also has economic benefits: the company enjoys tax preferences for the sale of batteries, which remain in effect even despite the cancellation of direct subsidies for electric vehicle owners.
This is part of the global struggle for an ecological future, in which batteries play the role of new oil. Despite the fact that the plant is opened in the USA, global supply chains and engineering developments are increasingly covering the world — from Tokyo to Texas.
