Porsche has patented a new airbag design for convertible cars.
The new airbag is located in the front pillar and partially performs the function of window curtain airbags, which are quite problematic to install in open-top models.
It is possible that this type of airbag may appear not only on convertibles, to complement the "window safety" system with additional protection in the vulnerable area of the front pillar.
