Jaguar Land Rover has received a patent for an innovative system that will allow cars to recognize their owners by face.
The new development will make it possible to identify the owner by face, using data from a pair of cameras installed in the front doors. One camera tracks a person approaching the car, and the second captures their image directly in front of the door. If the images match the data stored in the car's memory, the locks unlock automatically.
This system will relieve car owners of the need to carry keys with them, and should also reduce the risk of vehicle theft.
